This kind of stereotyping takes the focus away from the fact that cheerleading could be considered a rigorous sport in itself. This is further supported by the fact that, today, there are already competitions that validate it as a sport. More importantly, however, it fosters the same benefits that sports like basketball and soccer such as teamwork and fair play.
